Instagram cameraThe Instagram Socialmatic camera has been given the green light to go into production, thanks to financial backing from private investors. Be still our beating hearts!

The arrival (and a swift one at that) of some much needed funding means that the Socialmatic’s creators, ADR Studio, will not only be able to create a prototype of the Instagram-inspired camera, but also bring it to the mass market.

Shishakin&Co. Consulting is the company that will be teaming up with ADR Studio to make our dreams become a reality. In the event you’re not already familiar with the camera’s capabilities, here’s a quick recap:

“The Instagram app icon, the Socialmatic will come with 16 GB mass storage, Wifi and Bluetooth, a 4:3 touchscreen, two lenses (the first for capturing the image,  while the second is for 3D filters, webcam applications and QR Code capturing), optical zoom, and LED flash.

As you can with smartphones, you’ll be able to create an image using the Socialmatic, change the look of the picture, then post it on Facebook for all to see. And you’ll be able to create your own pictures thanks to the presence of an internal printer and paper cartridge with Instagram Paper Sheets. Watch out, Polaroid!”

Since the arrival of funding, Global Mobile Network Inc have signed up to help Italian designer Antonio De Rosa and the ADR Studio team build the camera and bring it to the mass market. As huge fans of this amazing camera, we’d like to wish Antonio and everyone involved the best of luck with this truly excellent project.
