New iPad (c) Apple 2012

Can the third generation of the iPad walk? No. Can it talk? No. Can you feel your loved one’s face through the screen? No (if only). But, is it a vast improvement on its predecessor? You betcha!

OK, so we were a touch disappointed that the new iPad doesn’t tuck you into bed after a long, hard day  at work (maybe one day – Ed), but the announcement that it will be blessed with a new Retina™ display, Apple’s new A5X chip with quad-core graphics (= better UX) and a five megapixel iSight® camera with advanced optics should suffice, for now.

According to Apple, the aforementioned Retina display will offer four times the amount of pixels that you get with the iPad 2, meaning images, video and websites (including this one) will look a whole lot better. And, when you’re using the iPad to woo a client, every pixel matters…

Here’s what Apple’s senior VP had to say about the third generation iPad:

“The new iPad redefines the category Apple created less than two years ago, delivering the most amazing experience people have ever had with technology,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

“The new iPad now has the highest resolution display ever seen on a mobile device with 3.1 million pixels, delivering razor sharp text and unbelievable detail in photos and videos.”

Set to go on sale on March the 16th, retail prices for the new iPad will start from £399.
